Black Walnut Pound Cake

  1. Cream butter, shortening and sugar in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
  4. Reserve 1/4 cup flour mixture.
  5. Add remaining flour mixture alternately with milk to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in flavorings.
  6. Drizzle warm oil over walnuts in bowl.
  7. Add reserved flour mixture; toss to coat.
  8. Stir into batter.
  9. Spoon into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
  10. Bake at 300u0b0 for 1 1/4 hours or until cake tests done.
  11. Yield:
  12. 16 servings.
