Spicy Black-Eyed Pea Dip

  1. In a medium saucepan combine bell pepper, celery, onion, black pepper, hot pepper sauce, catsup, salt, boullion cubes, nutmeg and cinnamon.
  2. Over low heat, cook and stir until boiling and cubes are dissolved completely.
  3. Add peas, tomatoes, garlic and sugar and simmer 30 minutes.
  4. Combine bacon drippings with flour and stir into peas.
  5. Cook 10 minutes.
  6. Stir well and serve hot with large corn chips.
  7. This is unique and delicious way to insure good luck for the coming year by eating black-eyed peas on New Year's Day or you could leave out the bacon drippings and flour and serve as a vegetable.
