Date Nut Bread With Rum Sauce Recipe

  1. Sprinkle soda on cut up dates; pour boiling water over and set aside.
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add in Large eggs, then flour, salt, and date mix alternately.
  3. Add in nuts and vanilla.
  4. Bake in 5 (#2) cans, well greased, in 325 degrees oven 1 hour.
  5. Sauce: Mix sugar, cornstarch, and nutmeg.
  6. Add in water and stir over medium heat till it boils.
  7. Remove from heat; add in butter and rum.
  8. Serve over date nut bread.
