De Luxe Apple Pie

  1. Line 9 inch pie pan with pastry; refrigerate until used.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon; add to apples and mix thoroughly.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Crush pears and spread in bottom of pastry-lined pan; sprinkle with rum.
  5. Heap apple mixture over pears; dot with butter.
  6. Put on top crust; seal and crimp edges; cut slits for steam to escape.
  7. Bake at 400F (200C) for 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
  8. Serve warm.
