Mixed Greens with Turkey Sausage
- 1-1/2 lb. fresh turnip greens
- 1-1/2 lb. fresh mustard greens
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups water
- 6-1/2 oz. (1/2 of 13-oz. pkg.) OSCAR MAYER Selects Uncured Smoked Turkey Sausage, cut lengthwise in half, then crosswise into thin slices
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
- Wash greens, removing all grit.
- Remove and discard hard stems.
- Stack greens in small bunches; roll up.
- Cut crosswise into wide strips.
- Melt shortening in large skillet on medium heat.
- Add onions and garlic; cook 3 to 5 min.
- or until crisp-tender, stirring frequently.
- Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
- Stir in greens; simmer on low heat 45 min.
- to 1 hour or until tender, stirring occasionally.
