Apple Torte
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. apple, cut up
- 1 egg
- 2 pkg. quick-rise yeast
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 2 c. whole-wheat flour
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter (1 stick)
- milk
- 4 large eggs
- about 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 c. golden raisins
- 3/4 c. confectioners sugar
- About 3 hours before serving or early in day: In large bowl, combine yeast, sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and whole-wheat flour.
- In 1-quart saucepan over low heat, heat margarine or butter and 1 1/2 cups milk until very warm (125u0b0 to 130u0b0).
- Margarine does not need to melt completely.
