Italian Meat Sauce

  1. In large saucepan, heat oil.
  2. Add whole cloves of garlic, sliced onion and chuck beef.
  3. Keep stirring until meat is brown and broken up.
  4. Add paste and warm water (measured in same cans) and stir slowly until sauce is smooth.
  5. Add at least 15 shakes of basil leaves, salt and pepper.
  6. Stir.
  7. Cover and simmer gently 1 hour.
  8. Keep checking sauce to be sure it is simmering gently.
  9. If needed, add more water and basil leaves.
  10. Cook linguini or spaghetti in large pot of boiling water until tender.
  11. Drain. Serve covered with meat sauce.
  12. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
