Pasticcio

  1. Cook macaroni as directed on package; drain.
  2. While macaroni is cooking, cook and stir hamburger and onion until beef is brown. Drain fat.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and salt.
  4. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until liquid is almost absorbed, about 8 minutes.
  5. Spread half of macaroni in greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  6. Cover with hamburger mixture.
  7. Mix 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese and the nutmeg; sprinkle over beef mixture. Cover with remaining macaroni.
