German Sweet Chocolate Pie *
- 1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 4 oz. German sweet chocolate
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1 large can evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 (8-inch) pie shells, unbaked
- Mix together coconut and pecans, and set aside.
- On low heat, melt chocolate and margarine; stir until blended.
- Remove from heat, gradually blend in evaporated milk.
- Set aside.
- Mix together sugar, cornstarch and salt.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Gradually blend in chocolate mixture.
- Pour into two unbaked pie shells. Sprinkle coconut and nut mixture over top of pies.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 40 minutes.
- Filling will be soft, but will set while cooking. Cool at least 4 hours before cutting.
