Five Spice Powder

  1. Using a spice grinder (AKA coffee grinder) or blender, process equal amounts of all ingredients until finely ground.
  2. Store in an airtight jar up to 3 months.
  3. Used extensively in chinese cooking, this pungent mixture of five ground spices usually consists of equal parts of cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed, star anise, and szechuan peppercorns.
  4. Prepackaged five-spice powder is available in Asian markets and most supermarkets.
