Border Style Bean Soup Recipe

  1. Wash beans; cover with water and bring to a boil.
  2. Cut heat to low and allow beans to simmer about an hour.
  3. Saute/fry onions and garlic in oil and add in grnd meat.
  4. When brown, add in chili pwdr.
  5. Add in meat, parsley, celery and tomatoes to beans.
  6. Return to boil; cut heat again to low.
  7. Cook about 2 hrs longer.
  8. Add in sliced carrots during last hour of cooking.
  9. Salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve with corn bread.
  11. Serves 12.
