Chocolate Almond Wafers

  1. Combine sugar, butter, melted chocolate, egg and almond extract in bowl.
  2. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
  3. Add flour, baking powder and salt; beat at low speed until well mixed.
  4. Stir in chopped almonds.
  5. Divide dough in half.
  6. Shape each half on waxed paper into 12x1 1/4-inch log.
  7. Wrap in waxed paper or plastic food wrap.
  8. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm.
  9. Heat oven to 350F.
  10. Cut logs into 1/4-inch slices with sharp knife.
  11. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  12. Bake 9-11 minutes or until set.
  13. Cool completely.
  14. Place bittersweet chocolate and 1 teaspoon shortening in bowl.
  15. Place white baking bar and remaining shortening in another bowl.
  16. Microwave on Medium (50% power) 2-3 minutes or until melted.
  17. Drizzle cooled cookies with both glazes.
