Chinese Walnut Chicken Recipe

  1. Toast walnuts in warm oil in skillet, stirring constantly.
  2. Remove to paper towel to drain.
  3. Place chicken strips in same skillet; sprinkle with salt.
  4. Cook, stirring frequently, 5-10 min, or possibly till tender.
  5. Remove from pan.
  6. Add in onion and celery slices and 1/2 c. of chicken broth; cook uncovered 5 min or possibly till vegetables are slightly tender.
  7. Combine sugar; cornstarch, soy sauce, and cooking sherry, adding remaining broth.
  8. Pour over vegetables; cook and stir till sauce thickens.
  9. Add in chicken, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and walnuts.
  10. Heat thoroughly.
  11. Serve with warm cooked rice.
  12. Makes 4-6 servings.
