Best Ever Pie Dough Recipe
- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 c. crisco shortening
- 1 lrg egg (mixed with sufficient water to make 3/4 c.)
- I can guarantee which the bottom crust will be as flaky as the top crust.
- It's a BIG hit around here!
- Try it, it's SUPER flaky...
- Mix together the flour and salt; cut in the shortening till it resembles tiny peas.
- Add in sufficient water to the egg to make 3/4 c. of liquid (I used Cool water).
- Add in to the flour mix and blend till dough holds together.
- The recipe didn't say to refrigeratethe dough but I did anyway.. habit.
- Not only is this crust SUPER FLAKY but it's VERY easy to work with.
- I've never achieved a finer crust.
- Try it, TRUST ME, it's wonderful!
- This recipe is suppose to make 3 double pie crusts, I'm not sure.
- I got one double pie crust & made 12 small apricot tarts with the rest of it.
