Honey Cake (Adopted)
- 4 egg whites
- 12 cup sugar
- 12 cup vegetable oil
- 12 cup honey
- 12 cup strong tea
- 1 12 cups flour
- 34 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 cup slivered almonds
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Beat egg whites.
- Add sugar, oil, honey, and tea, mixing well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon.
- Stir in the flour and spice mixture in several additions.
- Pour mixture into a 9- by 5-inch loaf pan lined with wax paper.
- Sprinkle with almonds.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes.
- (Bake at 325 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes if using a glass pan.)
- When cake is cool, cut into 1/2-inch slices.
