Spaghetti And Beef Balls
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. grated cheese (sharp cheese is best)
- 2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
- 1 egg, well beaten
- dash of pepper
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 strips bacon, cut up
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 (No. 3) can tomatoes
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- 1 lb. long spaghetti
- grated Parmesan cheese
- Combine beef, grated cheese, green pepper, egg and pepper with 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Shape into balls.
- Saute bacon in a heavy pan until fat melts.
- Add beef balls and brown slowly on all sides. Add margarine and onion.
- Add the other 1 teaspoon salt, tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar.
- Simmer, as slowly as possible, for 2 hours.
- Stir occasionally.
- Pour over hot, drained spaghetti. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve with crisp salad and bread.
