Grandma Warmann'S Whole Wheat Bread

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup warm water.
  2. Stir until dissolved fully.
  3. Let stand.
  4. Pour 3 cups boiling water over 1 1/2 cups cracked wheat.
  5. Let stand 1 hour.
  6. Add to cracked wheat, the bran, 1 1/2 cups warm water, salt, brown sugar, oil, whole wheat flour and 2 cups white flour.
  7. Mix well and add dissolved yeast. Beat hard and add more white flour to make firm dough (5 to 6 cups).
  8. Knead on floured surface 5 to 6 minutes.
  9. Place in greased bowl.
  10. Let rise until doubled.
  11. Punch down and put into greased bread pans.
  12. Let rise again.
  13. Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 45 minutes or until done.
  14. Makes 4 full loaves.
