German Chocolate Upside-Down Surprise Cake

  1. Heat oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  3. Sprinkle coconut and pecans evenly over bottom of greased pan.
  4. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil and eggs at Low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at High speed.
  5. Spoon batter evenly over coconut and pecans.
  6. In another large bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, margarine and cream cheese; beat until smooth and creamy.
  7. Spoon evenly over batter.
  8. Bake at 375F (190C) for 43 to 53 minutes, or until a tothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely.
  10. Cut into squares.
  11. Invert each square onto individual plates.
  12. Serve warm or cool.
