Christmas Stollen
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 oz. yeast cake
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom seed
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. citron, finely cut
- 1/2 c. sliced candied cherries
- about 2 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 regular size yellow cake mix
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- brown sugar
- cinnamon
- nuts
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add cake mix and flour and knead dough.
- Let rise until double.
- Roll to 1/4 inch thickness and spread with brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts.
- Roll as for jelly roll and cut 1/2-inch slices.
