Best Chocolate Cake with Fudge Frosting

  4. Grease and flour 13x9x3-inch pan, 3 8-inch round pans or 2 9-inch round pans.

  6. Beat all ingredients except fudge frosting in a large bowl on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.
  7. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping bowl constantly.
  8. Pour into pan(s).

  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes (rectangle pan) or 30-35 minutes (round pans), or until wooden pick comes out clean.
  11. Cool rounds 10 minutes; remove frompans.
  12. Cool completely.
  13. Frost.
  14. Frosting: Mix all ingredients except vanilla in a 2-1/2 quart saucepan.
  15. Heat to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally.
  16. Boil 1 minute without stirring.
  17. Place saucepan in a bowl of ice and water.
  18. Beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency; add vanilla.
