Applesauce Fruitcake

  1. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs.
  2. Mix spices with flour and sift; add to creamed mixture.
  3. Heat applesauce; add to batter. Dredge fruits and nuts in 3/4 cup flour and add fruits to batter and mix well.
  4. Grease 4 large loaf pans; place waxed paper in bottom.
  5. Divide batter in pans and bake at 325 degrees about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
  6. Makes 4 large loaf cakes (2-lb) or 8 small gift-size cakes (1-lb.).
