Sugar Cookies
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup imperial spread
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
- 1 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon extract
- In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; set aside.
- In large bowl, with electric mixer, beat Imperial Spread, 1/2 cup granulated sugar and confectioners sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla until blended. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended. Cover with plastic wrap and chill until firm, several hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, then roll in remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar; arrange on baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Flatten each with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake 8 minutes or until centers are set. On wire rack, let stand 2 minutes; remove from sheets and cool completely.
