Bran Rolls

  1. Combine shortening, boiling water, sugar, salt and bran in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Stir until shortening is melted; cool to lukewarm.
  3. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  4. Add to bran mixture. Add egg and beat well.
  5. Add 1 cup flour and beat well.
  6. Add remaining flour and mix well.
  7. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight.
  8. Punch dough down; divide dough into 24 pieces and shape into rolls.
  9. Place on greased baking sheets.
  10. Cover and let rise in
  11. a warm place (85u0b0), free from drafts, until doubled in size.
  12. Bake at 400u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
  13. Yield:
  14. 2 dozen rolls.
