Apple Crisp
- 2 lb. or 6 c. tart green apples (Granny Smith), peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. oatmeal
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. butter, chilled
- vanilla ice cream or yogurt (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Place apples in shallow 1-quart casserole or baking dish.
- Add raisins.
- Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Mix dry ingredients and cut in butter.
- Mixture should be coarse and crumbly.
- Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Cover lightly with foil and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for 30 minutes longer until the top is golden brown.
- Serve with ice cream.
- Serves 6 to 8.
