Moist Marble Cake
- 3 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. oil
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. cold water
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 3 c. cake flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.
- Add oil, vinegar, vanilla and cold water.
- Mix and set aside.
- Mix in another bowl the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk.
- Mix both batters as for a marble cake.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 50 to 60 minutes in 15 x 10-inch pan.
- Frost when cool and freeze.
- Freezing gives the cake extra moistness.
- Remove cake from freezer several hours before serving.
