Southern Baked Beans
- 6 slices thick cut bacon
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 1/2 cups Great Northern Beans canned
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F.
- Coarsely chop bacon. Peel and mince garlic.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together chicken broth, ketchup, mustard, apple cider vinegar, molasses, dark brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Drain and rinse beans. Add beans and bacon to broth mixture and toss to coat.
- Transfer bean mixture to baking dish and cover with foil. Bake on middle rack of oven for 1 hour. Remove foil and cook another 15-20 minutes, until sauce is bubbling and thick.
- Check to see that beans are done. Remove from oven or add time as needed.
- Serve warm.
