Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apple Crisp
- 6 apples large, such as Fuji or Gala
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oats quick-cooking
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter cold, cubed
- whipped cream or ice cream, for serving
- Peel, core and cut the apples into large wedges. Add the apples to the KitchenAid(R) Slow Cooker.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, cornstarch, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour the mixture into the slow cooker and stir until the apples are well coated.
- For the topping
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, cinnamon, brown sugar and butter. Using your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until moist clumps form. Sprinkle the mixture on top of the apples, then cover and set the slow cooker to HIGH for 4 hours.
- If not serving immediately, set the slow cooker to KEEP WARM mode. When ready to serve, scoop out the crisp into serving bowls and top it with whipped cream or ice cream.
