Hamburg Soup
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, undrained
- 4 c. water
- 2 beef flavored bouillon cubes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 3/4 c. sliced celery
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 c. medium egg noodles, uncooked
- 1/2 tsp. dried whole thyme
- Cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain on paper towel.
- Discard pan drippings.
- Add next 8 ingredients; bring to boil.
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add vegetables, noodles and thyme.
- Bring to a boil; simmer, uncovered, for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serves 6.
