Honey Oatmeal Bread
- 1 c. quick cooking oats
- 1/3 c. Land O Lakes sweet cream butter
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 (1/4 oz.) pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 6 1/4 to 7 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 3 Tbsp. quick cooking oats
- In large mixer bowl, combine 1 cup oats, butter, boiling water, honey and salt.
- Cool to warm (105u0b0 to 115u0b0).
- Stir in yeast.
- Add 2 eggs and 2 1/2 cups flour.
- Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth (1 to 2 minutes).
- Stir in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes). (Add more flour as needed until dough no longer sticks.)
- Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up.
