Johnny'S Favorite Lasagna
- 1 lb. hot Italian sausage
- 2 lb. ground beef
- salt and pepper
- 1 Tbsp. Wesson oil
- 2 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. sweet basil
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 large can tomato paste
- 1 regular can tomato sauce
- 1 (No. 2 1/2) can tomatoes
- 1/4 c. mushrooms
- 3 c. cottage cheese (small curd)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese
- 1 pkg. lasagna noodles
- Brown meat slowly in oil; drain.
- Add next 8 ingredients. Simmer uncovered about one hour, stirring occasionally.
- Cook, drain and rinse noodles.
- Combine cottage cheese, eggs, salt and pepper.
- Place 1/2 noodles in 9 x 13 pan, spread 1/2 cottage cheese, 1/2 mozzarella cheese, sliced thin, and 1/2 meat mixture. Repeat layers.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake at 350 - 375 degrees about 30 minutes.
- Let stand 10 - 15 minutes before cutting.
