Grandmother'S Chocolate Cake
- 1/2 c. Butter, softened
- 1 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Brown Sugar, packed
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 c. Milk
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 2 c. All-Purpose Flour
- 1/3 c. Baking Cocoa
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 c. Boiling Water
- Confectioner's Sugar (optional)
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars.
- Add the eggs, milk and vanilla, beat well.
- Combine the flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
- Add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Stir in the water and mix until smooth.
- The batter will be thin.
- Pour into a greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35-40 minutes, or until cake tests done.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Dust with confectioner's sugar if desired.
- Serves 12-16.
