Pasta And Meatball Bake
- 250 grams rotini
- pasta
- 500 grams ground beef
- 5 leaves basil minced
- 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese grated
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup onion minced
- 5 tomatoes cooked, with skins removed, crushed or liquified
- 1/2 green bell pepper diced
- 1/2 cup onion minced
- salt and ground black pepper
- cooking spray
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 200 grams mozzarella cheese grated
- Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.
- Prepare the pasta, following the directions on the package, to al dente. Set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid.
- Mix the beef, basil, 1/2 cup onion, bread crumbs, parmesan, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.
- Form the beef mixture into balls and fry in a large skillet spritzed with cooking spray until golden brown on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Saute the onion and green pepper together until the onion becomes transparent. Add the tomato and white wine. Add a little of the reserved cooking liquid if necessary. Let simmer for 4 minutes. Add salt and pepper if needed.
- Stir the pasta into the sauce and mix. Add the meatballs and mix.
- Place the pasta and meatballs into a large baking dish and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve.
