Grandma'S Turtle Cookies
- 0.5 c. brown sugar
- 0.5 c. butter
- 0.25 tsp. vanilla
- 0.125 tsp. maple flavouring
- 2 eggs, save 1 egg white
- 1.5 c. all-purpose flour
- 0.25 tsp. salt
- 0.25 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. pecan halves
- Frosting
- 1/3 c. chipits (chocolate, butterscotch or white)
- 3 tbsp. milk
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 c. icing sugar
- Mix together brown sugar, butter, vanilla, maple flavouring, 1 egg and 1 egg yolk, flour, salt and baking soda.
- Roll dough into 0.75 inch balls.
- Arrange pecan halves in a star shape for each ball on a baking sheet.
- Dip one end of each ball into remaining egg white, then press onto a set of pecan halves.
- Bake at 350 F for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool.
- Make the Frosting:nn a saucepan, melt together chipits, milk, butter and icing sugar.
- Place a 1/2 tsp of frosting on top of each cookie.
