Turkish Koulourakia Cookies
- 230 grams butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup milk
- 5 cups white flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- sesame seeds as desired
- Preheat the oven at 180 C.
- Stir the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla using a food processor until the mixture obtains a soft texture.
- Sift the white flour with baking powder, add them to the food processor bowl, and beat the mixture until the flour is no longer visible.
- Remove the dough from the bowl, form a dough ball, cover it with plastic film, and let it sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle white flour on the counter-top and place the dough ball there. Remove the plastic film and form several dough balls about 40 grams each.
- Roll the dough balls until they stretch about 25 centimeters.
- Fold each dough piece in half and twist together into a braid.
- Paint the braids with egg white, sprinkle them with sesame seeds, and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the cookies from the oven, let them cool off completely, and serve.
