Turkish Koulourakia Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven at 180 C.
  2. Stir the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla using a food processor until the mixture obtains a soft texture.
  3. Sift the white flour with baking powder, add them to the food processor bowl, and beat the mixture until the flour is no longer visible.
  4. Remove the dough from the bowl, form a dough ball, cover it with plastic film, and let it sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle white flour on the counter-top and place the dough ball there. Remove the plastic film and form several dough balls about 40 grams each.
  6. Roll the dough balls until they stretch about 25 centimeters.
  7. Fold each dough piece in half and twist together into a braid.
  8. Paint the braids with egg white, sprinkle them with sesame seeds, and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven, let them cool off completely, and serve.
