Meatballs Gordon
- 1 lb. chopped meat
- 1/2 slice white bread, cut into tiny pieces and moistened with water until "mushy"
- 1/2 egg
- breadcrumbs
- chopped onion, garlic and herbs to taste
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste, plus this can filled with water
- chopped tomato and basil
- Start with meat.
- Add bread, beat in egg and add breadcrumbs to thicken.
- Add chopped onion, garlic and whatever herbs to suit your taste.
- In medium saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, plus the water (see above).
- Add chopped tomato; sprinkle in basil.
- Make 1 1/2-inch round meatballs; place in sauce. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Serve with pasta or on sandwiches. . .
- whatever.
- Best if eaten a day or 2 after preparation.
