Savory French Toast
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup egg white
- 4 slices bread
- 2 tablespoons dijon Mustar
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 slices ham
- 4 ounces goats cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- Lightly whisk egg, egg white, honey and milk together.
- Spread 1 tbsp Dijon on one side of 2 slices of bread.
- Sprinkle with 1/4 of the Parmesan.
- Top with ham and sprinkle with 1/4 of the Parmesan.
- Spread 1/2 of the goats cheese on each of the other two slices of bread and place goats cheese-side down.
- Dip each side of the sandwich carefully into the egg mixture and they both have absorbed the liquid.
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F.
- Melt butter in a cast iron skillet large enough for the two sandwiches. Fry each one for about 5 minutes per side. Then put in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- Serve hot with warmed maple syrup.
