Brownies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and stir in the orange zest. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 20 seconds until thoroughly melted.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and egg yolks with an electric mixer or whisk.
  4. Stir in the melted chocolate, then add in the chopped nuts.
  5. Add the salt to the egg whites and beat until peaks form. Mix the dry ingredients and then fold into the egg whites. Add to the butter mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Melt the remaining chocolate and drizzle over the brownies, sprinkling with more nuts. Allow to cool before cutting it into 3-inch squares.
