Baked Macaroni And Cheese
- 1 pound shells
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 5 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 16 ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded
- plain breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Boil water with 1 tbs salt
- Place butter in pot and melt slowly. Then add flour and pepper. Continue to stir constantly for 3 minutes. Then add milk a little at a time stirring all the while.
- Add shredded cheese a little at a time stirring all the while. The cheese sauce will thicken. Once it becomes thick, set aside.
- Add pasta to boiling water and cook for 5 minutes then drain.
- Add sauce to pasta and mix well.
- Butter the bottom and sides of a baking dish, cover entire buttered area with breadcrumbs, add pasta mixture to baking dish, spread out evenly. Sprinkle top with breadcrumbs.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.
