Chocolate-Cherry Brownies
- 1 cup butter or margarine, cut up
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares, coarsely chopped
- 4 eggs lrgs
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hazelnuts toasted, skinned and chopped
- 1 cup dried cherries chopped
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan.
- Combine butter and chocolate in microwaveproof bowl. Microwave on Medium2 to 2 1/2 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until melted. Cool.
- Beat eggs and sugar in large mixer bowl at medium-high speed until light and ribbon forms when beaters are lifted, 5 to 8 minutes. Beat in vanilla.
- At low speed, beat in chocolate mixture. Stir in flour and salt until blended. Stir in nuts and cherries. Spoon into prepared pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
