Meatballs In A Tomato Sauce With Peas
- 7/8 pound ground meat
- 1 sausage crumbled
- 2 eggs
- 1 inch milk
- 1 3/8 cups bread
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- chopped parsley
- breadcrumbs
- 1 1/4 cups tomato puree
- 1 shallot
- 1 3/8 cups peas canned
- red wine
- extra-virgin olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- sugar
- Combine the ground meat in a bowl with the sausage, eggs, soaked bread, parmesan cheese, a pinch of salt, and some chopped parsley .
- Shape the mixture into meatballs and coat them with the breadcrumbs.
- Place a few tablespoons of oil in a saucepan and saute the thinly-sliced shallot. Add the meatballs and brown them.
- Add the peas and some red wine, allow the red wine to evaporate.
- Last, add the tomato puree, season with salt and pepper and a pinch of sugar, cover and cook on medium-low heat for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
- Complete the dish with some fresh basil.
