Miser Wot (Ethiopian Lentil Stew)

  1. Add onions to a large pot over medium heat add oil and stir until the onion are translucent
  2. stir in the garlic and ginger
  3. Add the berbere (add a few drops of water to mix evenly), stir
  4. In a separate pot boil some water (I use a teapot)
  5. Rinse the starch off the lentil until the water is clear (you can do this in advance) then add to the pot. Stir.
  6. Add water and turn heat to low
  7. let cook for 10-15 minutes or until the lentils are cooked. nnTip: make sure you do not leave on stove too long as the lentils will overcook and lose their form.
  8. Add salt and serve!
