Miser Wot (Ethiopian Lentil Stew)
- 2 finely chopped onions
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 1 cup red lentil rinsed
- 1 tablespoon Berbere or Ground Chilli
- 2 cups hot water
- oil
- salt to taste
- Add onions to a large pot over medium heat add oil and stir until the onion are translucent
- stir in the garlic and ginger
- Add the berbere (add a few drops of water to mix evenly), stir
- In a separate pot boil some water (I use a teapot)
- Rinse the starch off the lentil until the water is clear (you can do this in advance) then add to the pot. Stir.
- Add water and turn heat to low
- let cook for 10-15 minutes or until the lentils are cooked. nnTip: make sure you do not leave on stove too long as the lentils will overcook and lose their form.
- Add salt and serve!
