Our Favorite Bolognese
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 12 ounces ground beef
- 12 ounces ground pork
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 carrot finely chopped
- 2 stalks celery finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 14 ounces diced tomatoes
- 15 ounces tomato puree
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
- 2 beef bouillon cubes crumbled
- 14 ounces spaghetti
- grated Parmesan cheese
- chopped parsley
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan on high heat. Add the ground meats; cook, stirring to break up lumps, 5 mins, or until browned. Add the onion, carrot, celery and garlic; cook and stir 3 mins or until softened.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato puree, Italian seasoning, crumbled bouillon cubes and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 mins or until sauce is thickened.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a saucepan of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain.
- Divide pasta among serving plates. Spoon bolognese sauce over pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley.
