Swedish Tea Bread
- 1 pkg. granular yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast
- 1/3 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. scalded milk, cooled
- 3 2/3 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. melted butter, cooled to lukewarm
- 1/2 c. seedless raisins
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 1/2 c. chopped dates
- 6 candied cherries
- Soften yeast in lukewarm water for 5 minutes.
- Then add lukewarm milk and about half of the flour to make a soft batter. Beat well.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until double.
- Add sugar, salt, melted butter, raisins, pecans, dates, cherries and remaining flour.
- Place dough in bowl and let rise until double. Shape into a loaf.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 325u0b0 and bake 45 minutes longer.
