Layered Meatloaf (Italian)
- 2 lbs hamburger meat (93/7, otherwise there's too much grease)
- 8 oz. shredded mozzarella
- Parmesan, shredded or grated
- Dried, chopped onions to taste
- Minced garlic to taste
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- Preheat oven to 350 and set out 1 loaf pan
- Hold the mozzarella, Parmesan, and meat in reserve
- Blend remaining ingredients in a large mixing bowl
- Add the hamburger meat to the mixture and blend thoroghly
- Layer 1/2 the meat mixture on the bottom of the pan
- Layer 1/2 of the two cheeses on the meat mixture
- Layer the remaining meat mixture on top of the cheese
- Cook on 350 for 1-1/2 hours (cook times will vary)
- Remove from oven and cover with spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce
- Cover with a layer of cheese
- Cook for another 5--10 minutes
- Remove from oven and let cool 5--10 minutes before cutting
- Suggested sides: bread sticks, with either Alfredo sauce, or seasoned balsamic vinegar and olive oil
