Homemade Dog Biscuits
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 1 c. warm broth (110~ to 115~)
- 1 c. cracked wheat
- 1/2 c. nonfat dry milk
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. milk
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 3/4 to 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 beaten egg
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in the warm water.
- Stir in warm chicken broth and molasses.
- Stir in 1 cup all-purpose flour, wheat flour, cracked wheat, cornmeal, dry milk, salt and garlic powder; mix well.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
- Knead in enough of remaining flour to make a very stiff dough (10 to 12 minutes total).
- Divide dough in half; cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- On the floured surface, roll each portion to 3/8-inch thickness for large dogs or 1/4-inch thickness for small dogs. Using 2 to 4-inch cutters, cut dough into desired shapes.
