Tasty Donuts
- 1 7/8 cups milk
- 7/8 cup powdered sugar
- 7 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 2/3 tablespoons fresh yeast
- 5 cups wheat flour
- salt
- vegetable oil for frying
- Heat the milk just to warm.
- Beat the sugar with the butter and the eggs.
- Put the yeast in a bowl, and dissolve with little of warm milk, mixing with your fingertips. Add to the remaining milk, and mix well.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour with a pinch of salt. Make a hole in the center of the flour, and gradually, pour in the milk and yeast mixture. Stir until obtaining a homogeneous dough.
- Cover with a cloth, and let rest in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a skillet, and drop in spoonfuls of dough.
- Fry for 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden.
- Remove, drain on paper towels, and coat with powdered sugar.
