Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Sift flour; measure.
  3. Add baking powder and salt; sift again.
  4. Cream butter or margarine thoroughly; gradually add sugar, creaming until fluffy.
  5. Add beaten eggs, flavoring and liquid.
  6. Add and blend in flour, one-third at a time. Dough should be soft but just firm enough to roll out on a lightly floured board to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Cut with floured 2 to 3-inch cookie cutter.
  8. Lift with spatula to ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at shelf position B (below center of oven) for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Cool on wire rack.
  10. Cookies may be brushed with milk or buttermilk and sprinkled with sugar before baking.
  11. Can also make these as drop cookies; edges will be brown on these.
