Bavarian Meatballs And Pears

  1. Drain pears, reserving syrup.
  2. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, parsley, egg, milk, salt, pepper and allspice.
  3. Mix well and shape into 1 1/2-inch balls.
  4. Brown meat balls slowly in oil.
  5. Add reserved pear syrup, vinegar, brown sugar, pickling spice, cloves and dried apricots (if you have them).
  6. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
  7. Add pear halves and simmer 15 minutes longer. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
