Bulgarian Moussaka
- 2 pounds ground beef
- onions 4 med., diced
- potatoes 5 med., halved and sliced
- tomatoes 4 med., sliced thin
- 1 cup table wine
- 3 eggs
- feta cheese
- garlic salt
- Brown beef and onions separately. Sprinkle browning onions with paprika, if desired. Mix meat and onions, salt and pepper to taste. Place half the mixture in thin layer in baking dish and top with layer of half the sliced potatoes. Add other half of meat mixture, then top with balance of potatoes. Spread tomato slices over all.
- Sprinkle with feta or grated Parmesan cheese, and garlic salt, if desired. Add 1 cup of red table wine, cover tightly with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for 50 minutes. Remove from oven and pour on the 3 eggs, beaten with a little milk; return to oven, uncovered, for 10 minutes, or until egg mixture has cooked.
