Lamb With Figs And Cinnamon
- 1 leg of lamb boned and cut into pieces
- 2 onions cut into rings
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 cup red wine full-bodied
- 2 tablespoons vinegar balsamic fig, alternatively Modena
- 1 2/3 cups diced tomato canned
- 1 1/3 cups dried figs whole
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- bay leaf
- ground black pepper
- olive oil
- salt
- greek yogurt
- paprika
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a heavy pan and fry the onion until soft.
- Add the garlic and meat. Cook until brown.
- Add the wine, vinegar, and tomatoes, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and add the bay leaf, cinnamon, sugar, and figs. Season to taste.
- Partially cover and cook for 90 minutes or until the meat is tender.
- Serve with Greek yogurt and sprinkled with paprika.
